Every ticket sold from the Cochrane Roping Club's 50/50 raffle goes to nurturing local talent and a passion for the Western way of life

Shelly Van Loon with the club said they've launched a fundraiser called Long, Live, Cowboys.

"It's for our youth program, you know, the cost of everything is going up so we're just trying to raise some extra funds to keep this going and keep it affordable for the kids. An instructor comes in for eight weeks and gives them roping lessons. And that's what the funds go towards."

"Lammle's has donated a pair of cowboy boots. So if you buy a ticket, your name automatically goes into a separate draw for the cowboy boots. If you're a roper and you've got a ticket, you're also put into a draw for free membership."

Cochrane Roping Club There will be an in-person draw on May 15.

"Our roping club has team roping, ranch roping and we're just bringing in breakaway roping. So it's all the cowboys in Cochrane, where we go to hang out."

The club practices three times a week.

Van Loon said they always welcome new members.

"We try to keep our fees low so it's affordable for everybody and that's part of our Love, Live Cowboys youth initiative to keep this tradition going. That's our reason for fundraising, anybody can join at a reasonable fee."
