Original story:

At approximately 9:30 this morning, Cochrane Mounties as well as Cochrane Fire Services responded to a report of a structure fire on Highway 40.

Corporal Tammy Keibel, says that a portion of Highway 40 is currently closed to allow fire crews to combat the blaze.

"Initially Highway 40 was shut down approximately four kilometres west of Waiparous Village where the structure fire was occurring," explains Kiebel. "I have since received information that one lane of traffic has been reopened with alternating traffic flow and is being managed by emergency personnel currently."

RCMP is asking motorists to avoid the area and to be aware of emergency personnel on the highway who are directing and diverting traffic.

Corporal Keibel, says at this time no other details are available.

"I don't believe it's a residence, but I don't know specifically what [kind of] structure they've responded to.

More details will be shared when they become available.
