The Cochrane Cobras senior high girls basketball team kicked off their season December 7, and head coach Randy Peron has set his sights high for the year.

"We're hoping to improve every practice, every game and hopefully peak in March when the playoffs count. Our goal is to win and go after the Rocky View title. That's always been our goal."

Peron finds himself with a young, fresh squad this year. Only three players return as seniors, and the two youngest, both in grade 10, didn't play last year.

Regardless, the team has plenty of experience winning.

"The majority of these kids were on the junior team last year that ended up winning Rocky View and came second in the zones," said Peron. "They know what it takes to win a title because they won it last year in Rocky View."

The girls kicked off their season against their cross town rivals, the Bow Valley Bobcats.
