Local MP for Banff-Airdrie, Blake Richards is acutely aware of the negative impact the pandemic has had on small businesses and charities. So, starting today Monday, March 1st, and running for the month of March he is launching a contest giveaway to show support for businesses and charities.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has had a severe impact on small businesses and charities in our area,” said Richards. “Closures and other pandemic-related restrictions means fewer people are shopping local, and charities in our community cannot run the same types of fundraisers as usual. That is why I am running a giveaway to help out these groups.”

There is nothing better than free advertising and Richards is hoping that by using his website and Facebook page platforms that he can help bring attention to struggling businesses with the contest. “Local small businesses and charities depend on exposure in the community, and one way I want to use my platform is to help give these organizations that exposure.”

To take part simply share the name and photo of your favorite small business or local charity on the pinned post on Richards’ Facebook page. Then, fill out the entry form in the post to enter to win a random draw at the end of the month to win prizes from various local businesses in the area.

During the Christmas holidays, Richards ran a virtual Holiday Decorating contest which received strong support. Hopefully, this too will be garner support and be a fun, effective way to shine a light on businesses and charities. Plus, providing participants a chance to win some great prizes from local businesses too.

Richards' says, "We are looking forward to seeing and hearing about all the great local businesses that people are going into support."
