The Town of Cochrane is reminding local residents of the provincial health measures in place to stop the spread of COVID-19.

With the number of active COVID cases on the rise in Cochrane, Town Officials are urging residents to practise social distancing while using the town's outdoor amenities.

As the weather warms up, pedestrian traffic is increasing on the pathways and more people are flocking to our local playgrounds, parks as well as Historic Downton.

The Town recognizes that the Zero Gravity Skate Park is a particularly popular destination, and they say that if two metres of physical distancing can't be maintained, it's best to come back to enjoy it at a later time.

Town Officials recommend sanitizing your hands before and after utilizing public amenities, and they say that benches, outdoor play structures, handrails and park facilities are not sanitized by the Town of Cochrane.

According to the Province of Alberta, outdoor social gatherings of up to 10 people are permitted with two metres of physical distancing between households and will be enforced with $1,000 fines.

Town of Cochrane officials says that Municipal Enforcement will be out in public spaces, monitoring that protocols are being followed and encouraging "everyone to practice physical distancing while enjoying outdoor facilities."
