The tenth meeting for Cochrane's 100 Women Who Care is occurring tomorrow evening (September 5).

Judy Samson and Colleen Buckley, co-founders, say the group continues to gain momentum and they are hoping for a packed house.

The premise of 100 Women is easy; one hundred ladies come together for roughly one hour, donating one hundred dollars to a local charity, resulting in $10,000 supporting a cause that benefits Cochrane and area, residents.

Since 2015, 100 Women Who Care Cochrane have donated $62,215; Buckley, shares the best part is learning the impact it has on a small charity/organization. "We thought about giving back to the community and being with like minded women and hearing of charities that you have never heard of before but the one really exciting thing is giving the money to the charity because they weren't expecting it and they are over the moon. They aren't expecting it, it's not part of their fundraising and then they get this gift. You learn about their struggles and the educational component is there."

The ladies are encouraging everyone to come to tomorrow's meeting, even if you don't join. "We are really encouraging people to bring friends, even if they are unsure of joining, bring them and they can be a part of it and maybe help them make a decision if they want to be part of it. They don't have to become part of the group but come out and see what we are doing."

With tough economic times, 100 Women has not quite reached the one hundred membership mark yet but the goal is to hit 100 Women by the end of 2017. "It would be really nice to hit that one hundred women goal but we are really thankful for all the ladies in the community, especially Alberta going through a recession the last year and a half, it has been heartwarming that we still have as strong of a group as we do have but it would be nice to get to 100, then 150, then 200, as we shoot for the stars."

Come out, meet other like minded ladies from the community and be part of a movement that feels good and supports the community. The meeting kicks off at 7 pm at Killarney's restaurant. You can follow the group here and are encouraged to share and spread the momentum.
