Twelve more cases of COVID-19 were reported by Stoney Health Services yesterday, and no new recoveries reported, raising the total to 184.

The Stoney Nakoda First Nation re-declared a state of emergency on Jan. 11 after a rampant rise in the number of cases.

A band council resolution was signed, which included a ban on house-to-house visits, and a curfew from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. except for work, health, or emergency purposes.

Starting Jan. 12, on-nation funerals and wakes were no longer permitted, and virtual funerals were being encouraged.

Stoney Health officials are asking residents to avoid close contact with anyone they don't live with. They also ask people to stay at home and avoid non-essential travel.

"The transmission risk in Morley is extremely high and we all must do our part in order to bend the curve," it states.

Drive-thru tests have been completed all week at the Morley Centex gas station. They were available for anyone with COVID-19 symptoms or in close contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19.

A total of 2,829 tests have been completed since the beginning of the pandemic. There have been 323 cases identified, 139 of whom have recovered so far.

Sadly, four people have died.

In yesterday's update by Alberta Health Services, there were 46 active cases and 86 in Rocky View County.

Since the outbreak, Cochrane has experienced one death and Rocky View County four.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 1,417 deaths are attributed to the virus in Alberta.

Provincewide, another 717 were identified by the end of Jan. 15, and a total of 12,713 active cases. A total of 765 are hospitalized, including 122 in ICU.

Provincewide, 81,561 doses of the vaccine had been administered by Jan. 15.

Mandatory public health measures remain in place across the province but an easing of some of these restrictions take effect tomorrow.

As of Monday, outdoor social gatherings of up to 10 people will be allowed, and up to 20 people will now be able to attend funerals.  Personal and wellness services will be available on an appointment-only basis.
