Around 300 to 350 soccer players will fill Cochrane's fields this weekend for the 25th Cochrane Cup, hosted by the Cochrane Rangers Soccer Club.

There are 20 teams competing in various divisions such as men's open, women's open, men over 35, and women over 30.

President of the Cochrane Rangers Club Paul Tas invites all Cochranites to come check out the competition on Sept. 17 and 18.

"Anyone who wants to come out and watch some soccer, and enjoy some good food and good drinks, stop by," he says. "In this tournament they're going to get some good challenges, because there's some pretty darn good teams out there."

He says the men's open will be one of the most interesting divisions to watch.

"There is going to be some really good competition out there, particularly in the men's open, because we have eight teams, so that's going to be the toughest competition that we're going to have out there this weekend."

The Cochrane Cup features teams from Canmore, Olds, Leduc, Edmonton, Banff, Calgary, Airdrie, and Red Deer.

Games start at 9 a.m. Saturday at Rangers Field, and Bow Valley High School's Legacy Field, and Mitford Ponds.

The finals will be hosted Sunday at 1:30 p.m.
