Sunday's 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament of the Cochrane Basketball League has drawn teams from as far away as Edmonton.

Organizer Bryan Verdillo says the response has been amazing.

"It's well beyond what I expected," says organizer Bryan Verdillo. "I was only expecting local teams when I posted, but it has become huge. I've been busy, and I can't get off my phone with the number of people wanting to join."

He had originally booked the gym for half-court games, but they're now being played full court.

There are 21 teams participating in two divisions, including plenty of elite players from the entire Calgary region and a team of European players based out of Edmonton.

There is an open and U20 division and play is set to get underway at 12 noon on Apr. 17 at the SLS Family Sports Centre. A lottery will be held just before determine the matchups.

It's a double knockout tournament with the winners receive cash prizes and trophies.

Each game is 10 minutes and he's anticipating over 30 games will be play, wrapping up at 6 or possibly a bit later.
