The vast majority of Rocky View School (RVS) students have opted to return to in-person classes next week.

In a letter to parents today, Rocky View Schools announced about 85 per cent students will be heading to brick and mortar schools.

Just over 11.5 per cent will be educated online, and one per cent opted for homeschooling.

Over 3,000 will be educated online and RVS is in the process of shifting over 100 teachers to accommodate the option.

It's reconfiguring most in-class homerooms and class size will be similar whether students are educated online or in-person.

The letter recognized the tough decision faced by parents.

"We appreciate that the decision to send your child(ren) to school or have them learn at home was difficult for some parents," states the letter.  "RVS wants to reassure you that your child(ren)’s education, safety and well-being continues to be at the heart of everything we do.

"We are confident in our quality RVS Online Learning offering and that students in the classroom will be protected through the measures established in our school re-entry plan and with the cooperation of all RVS staff, students and families."

The division provided parents with a tip sheet of strategies to consider.

They also encourage them to review the school re-entry resources of Alberta Education.
