Police say at approximately 8:35a.m. on May 5, a blue Toyota Corolla was heading Southbound on HWY 22 making a left hand turn onto James Walker Trail when it collided with an orange Toyota Corolla heading Northbound crossing the intersection at James Walker Trail.

The orange Corolla was then forced into an SUV turning right onto Northbound HWY 22.

Cochrane RCMP Sergeant Jeff Campbell says a 16 year old girl from Cochrane, and a 52 year-old women from Calgary were injured in the accident.

“They were both transported to the hospital by ground ambulance,” he says. “With minor non-life threatening injuries.”

The driver of the SUV was not injured.

He says the RCMP are still investigating the accident, and no charges have been laid.

“We are continuing to investigate the accident as to whether charges will be laid or not, the lights at the intersection were fully functional at the time, they both had solid greens so it will be a matter to determine if there was an unsafe left turn or not.”

Neither speed or alcohol are considered to be factors in the collision.
