An active curler at the Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre has tested positive for COVID-19.

In a letter sent out by SLS Family Sports Centre yesterday,(Monday, November 23) CEO Blair Felesky stated that they were informed by the individual on Sunday.

Felesky says that the individual typically curls at the rec centre daily, however, the last time they were at the facility was on Friday, November 13. Soon after, they began to show symptoms, the individual was tested and "has remained in isolation over the course of the past week."

Felesky reiterates that the individual who tested positive hasn't been at the facility over the past week. He says that the SLS Family Sports Centre team "remains diligent in cleaning protocols and will continue to assess this situation."

Felesky says that enhanced measures have been implemented in the curling arena. "Curling is only one example of a department that we have adopted enhanced procedures to ensure the safety of our users and team members," says Felesky. He continues to say "We count on everyone to do their part to minimize the risk of transmission in the facility.

In his letter, Felesky says that the SLS Family Sports Centre team is grateful to the individual and the Cochrane Curling Club for working with them to "ensure thorough contact tracing and community visibility."
