Motorists have been given a heads-up on a temporary detour on Hwy. 22 taking place on Monday night as construction advances on the Springbank Off-Stream Reservoir.

During the night of Monday, Dec. 5, traffic will be detoured on Hwy. 22 between Hwy. 8 and Hwy. 1, south of Springbank Rd.

Flaggers will be onsite directing traffic. Motorists are asked to obey all posted speed limits, directions, and signage. They can also expect short-term traffic stoppages throughout the night.

The overnight detour is required to allow placement of a temporary bridge deck for construction.

Traffic detouring will begin at 9 p.m. Onsite workers will move a preassembled bridge deck segment into place with the assistance of a heavy mobile crane placed on Hwy. 22.

Once built, the temporary construction overpass, will remain in place for several construction seasons while hauling proceeds as part of the continuing Springbank Reservoir Project.  A height restriction for traffic on Hwy. 22 will be limited to 5.4 metres.
