As of Tuesday, November 17 Cochrane is showing 22 active cases, a drop of one. Rocky View County has added two more for a total of 99.

Provincially the active cases increased by 773 bringing the total to 10,068. There are 268 people in hospital with 57 of those in ICU. The province has seen a total of 432 deaths and 40,962 have recovered from the virus.

While the COVID 19 news is rather grim, there is encouraging news with regards to seasonal flu case statistics and vaccinations.

Dr. Deena Hinshaw says, "We have great power when we work together. We are seeing this in our influenza numbers this year. We have called on all Albertans to do their part to support our health system by getting their flu shot. And you have answered that call. More than 1.1 million Albertans have already been immunized compared to about 940,000 at this time last year."

Hinshaw says she hopes the fact that not a single laboratory case of seasonal flu has been registered and consequently no hospitalizations either will give everyone some light in the darkness.

All the health protocols are winning in the fight against seasonal flu.
