The 2020 Alberta Golf Championships will go ahead this year using new COVID-19 safety protocols.

The decision was made after consultation with golf courses, competitors and volunteers across the province.

The organization says competitors will experience the same quality they have come to expect from Alberta Golf Championships while remaining safe from the time they register to final scoring.

Onsite access for all competitions will be limited to players only, no caddies or spectators will be allowed.

All major Championships will be played over 54 holes, including the U19 and Men's Amateur Championship which have traditionally been 72-holes.

That'll help lessen some of the demands on the host clubs and player expenses.

The Championship season kicks off Tuesday, June 23, with the Alberta Mens Mid Amateur Championship at Coyote Creek Golf & RV Resort in Sundre.
