Calgary Police say a man 30-40 years in age with extensive criminal history, was arrested in connection with five year old Taliyah Leigh Marsman's disappearence, was known to the family.

The man currently in custody is believed to have been driving a dark grey sedan the community of Panorama which is believed to be involved in Taliyah's disappearence.

The sedan was seen in the area where homicide victim, Sara Baillie's car was recovered, CPS have obtained CCTV footage showing the car around the time when Taliyah was seen last.

Witnesses in the area said they saw a stocky black man with someone wo looks like Taliyah get out of deceased mother's car, and into a gray sedan.

Police say the suspect not co-operating with the investigation, no charges have been laid in this case.

Search efforts are ongoing east of Chestermere, authorities say nothing has been found yet, except a stuffed animal which they are not sure is related to the case.

The amber alert continues for 5 year old Taliyah, who's mother, Sara Baillie was found murdered in her basement apartment in the community of Panorama on Monday, July 11.

Taliyah is described by police as mixed-race, with a slim build, and having curly brown hair and blue eyes.

Calgary police asks anyone who believes they have seen Taliyah to call 9-1-1 immediately.
