With the public hearing completed, there is the chance further amendments may come forward.

In its comments on the bylaw amendments, the Cochrane Planning Commission indicated it was open to further discussion surrounding the question of allowing off-site workers at day homes and removing one designated pick-up/drop off stall.

"From [the planning commission's] lense, they said there may be a need for an employee in certain circumstances, and they urged the administration to look at that and consider allowing that type of opportunity to occur," says Cochrane planning manager Riley Welden

"Certainly, that is what we're going to be looking at for the day homes, based on the information and input we received through the public hearing process."

He says the whole idea of a public hearing is to provide the opportunity to discuss proposed bylaws and does open the door to further amendments.

"Administration has to take the information that is presented through the public hearing and then look at the bylaw to see if we would be looking at any changes or recommend any amendments on how the bylaw is being presented."

Some councils also asked questions on the issue of allowing outside workers for day homes, believing cases do arise when it's necessary.

The bylaw amendment is scheduled to return to the council on Feb. 10.
