A recent benefit concert 'Rhythm For Aspens Roots' brought many together in support of seven month old Aspen Taylor.

Just over 100 people came out to celebrate song, music, and rally around mom Janice. Aspen, is currently in Children's Hospital as she continues her fight. Aspen has Type 1, Spinal Muscular Atrophy which would be comparable symptom wise to ALS in adults.

St. Andrew's United Church, Reverend Ray Goodship says at times there was much emotion.

"We didn't focus on the challenges as much but the hope; we focused on community, we focused on Aspen, and where we go from here."

Rev. Goodship adds seeing community come together from all over was heartwarming.

"There was a lot of people I didn't know; it wasn't just church folks, or people from the Cumbrian, but people from Canmore, people from the hospital, so it was all these networks of support that she has all kind of came together in one place."

So far around $4600 has been raised and funds are still trickling in.

If you couldn't make the benefit but would still like to reach out to help you can contact Goodship at minister@cochraneunited.ca
