Ringing in 2021 is going to be a bit different this year, but that doesn't mean it has to be any less fun.

Cochrane and Area Events Society has come up with a whole list of fun activities to keep us busy, while staying safe and socially distanced.

They had planned to once again host a large party at Mitford Pond like last year, but because of COVID-19 restrictions they were unable to do that.

They are inviting us to join them virtually between noon and 7 p.m. today for contests and to share memories of 2020.

They will then end off 2020 with a bang when they host virtual fireworks, which you can enjoy from the comfort of your own home.

There will also be prizes up for grabs throughout the day.

Here's a rundown of some of the activities that they're encouraging Cochanites to do today:

- Family scavenger hunt
- Snowmen contest
- Colouring contests
- Backyard fire
- Best dressed family
- Cross country skiing
- Best homemade noise maker
- Tobagan decorating contest & sledding down Bow Ridge or a smaller hill
- Skating at Mitford Pond
- Disc golf
- Fat tire biking
- Making snow angels

You can join in on all the fun on the CAES Facebook page.
