While Canada Day in Cochrane will look a little different this year, you can still expect the day to be jammed packed with both virtual and in-person activities. The Cochrane and Area Events Society is hosting a day-long virtual celebration that will feature several contests and local performances. The celebration will not only be digital though, with a parade marching through the majority of neighourhoods in Cochrane.

Bella Fallis, President of Cochrane and Area Events Society (CAES) says that the parade will feature a ton of familiar faces. “The Cochrane Jeepers will be in the parade, we have our superheroes and princesses in there so we'll have Elsa and Anna. We'll have Spider-Man and Captain America as well as some more vehicles from our sponsors.”

“We have a wonderful mix of virtual activities and also people will be able to get outside to participate as well.”

Various food trucks will also be traveling throughout Cochrane and the day will end with a huge fireworks show at Mitford Park.

"I have to stress that you cannot come and park at Mitford to watch the fireworks. We are closing the parking lot due to the fallout from the firework show. We are planning a much bigger and better show than we have had before. You should be able to view the fireworks from anywhere in town."

Starting at 11 pm, tune into 91.5 CochraneNow to hear the music that the entire Canada Day Fireworks show will be choreographed to.

The parade will begin on July 1, 2020, at the old Canadian Tire parking lot at 11 am and continue throughout Cochrane, marching through the major neighbourhoods in town. Check out CAES Facebook Page for more information and to follow along with the activities on Canada Day.
