Canlin Energy is leading the way in Big Hill Haven’s newly launched annual sponsorship program called BIZ 4 HER. Canlin Energy became the first Gold Level Sponsor in the program with a $5000 donation. Tim Adams, District Superintendent at Wildcat Hills Gas Plant says, “It is an honour to be the first BIZ 4 HER community partner and I urge any and all businesses in and around Cochrane to follow suit. This program allows us to make a positive, measurable impact and is an incredible opportunity to ensure the safety of women and children in our community.”

Tara McFadden, Funds Development Officer for Big Hill Haven says the program is a way to recognize businesses that are eager to help. She says, “We have had so many businesses that have stepped up and partnered with us and we wanted to create a more formalized program.” For example, Canlin Energy has been an ongoing supporter of Big Hill Haven for several years and McFadden says when the shelter reached out with the idea of the sponsorship program Canlin Energy was excited to jump on board.

McFadden says the sponsorship program is a way for, “Businesses that have the ability to contribute to Big Hill Haven’s mission to step up and be a partner with that. But also so that, you know, it is a tough time for everybody, and to make sure that they (the businesses) are recognized for that partnership.”

McFadden would also like to recognize and thank the BIZ 4 HER first Silver Level Sponsor, Bonton Meat Market.

The support that has been shown to Big Hill Haven during these especially trying times has been appreciated by all that are involved with the shelter’s important work. The need for domestic violence services continues to rise.  From October to December 2020, Big Hill Haven served 22 clients and provided 150 nights of shelter.
