The Medical examiner will be determining the death of a 36-year old Cochrane man found in the Bow River about one kilometre below Gleneagles.
Shortly before 2 p.m., today, the RCMP received a call from a resident who spotted what they believed to be a body floating just downstream from River Ave.
RCMP and Cochrane Fire Services both deployed boats to investigate and recovered the body of the man.
"In a short amount of time, the Cochrane Fire crew were successfully able to locate a deceased in the water," says Cpl. Troy Savinkoff. "The deceased person was taken to shore and assessed by medical staff.
Next of kin and the medical examiner have been notified, and an autopsy will be completed.
Cpl. Savinkoff says it's very early into the investigation by the RCMP.
"This is extremely early into the investigation," says Savinkoff. "We're still conducting assessments on whether or not this would be suspicious. There's nothing at this time that would suggest that it is suspicious, but again, this is very early on into the investigation."
