Cochrane Environmental Action Committee (CEAC) presented a $3000 cheque to Energy For All.

Tim Giese, President for CEAC says the money is going towards a solar energy program that was brought fourth by one of CEAC's members'.

"They are going to work with students in Cochrane and recipients in Ecuador. It is another one of these opportunities to take that classic environmental line, 'Think globally, act locally'."

Roselyn Himann, Executive Director for Energy For All says, the group is a Provincial non -profit organization that runs programs in Calgary and area schools.

"Energy For All is dedicated to increasing access for people in remote communities for clean water, energy, and waste water."

Himann says though the Ecuador project was already in the works, the recent earthquake has changed the groups focus.

"We aren't a humanitarian organization in way of disaster relief, we are the second stage that comes in to rebuild with the development side. We will be taking over where the humanitarian organization ends."

The money from CEAC has been specifically ear marked for a classroom program.

"We are going to be using this cheque 100% towards our solar LED lighting kits for classroom use."

Energy For All is currently undertaking projects in Ecuador, Tanzania, and Nicaragua.
