This Friday, the Cochrane Chaos junior female hockey team is returning for its first home game since October.

The junior team is back on track after a 3-2 loss to the Calgary Titans on Nov 6 and has climbed to the top of the AJFHL standings, with a 0.75 win percentage. Right behind them are the Edmonton Wolves and their closest rivals in the south, the Lethbridge Eagles.

Last weekend, the Chaos won their first meetings with the Fort Saskatchewan Fury, 9-2, and Central Alberta Amazons (Penhold), 3-2 in overtime.

Against the Fury, the Chaos scored early and just kept rolling.

"I think we just worked harder and had more speed and got some bounces and it sort of got away on them," says Chaos head coach Derek Loomer. "For the Fort, maybe I was expecting something a little bit stronger than what they showed in that game, but their record indicates we might see a different team when they come back and play us in a couple of weeks."

The Chaos dominated the play against the Amazons on Sunday until they ran into penalty problems.

"In the second period, if there was a minute that was five-on-five, I'd be surprised,"

The Amazons scored a couple of goals in the third to tie the game. Chaos captain Kaley Mueller got the winner, assisted by Kalaina Kozak, at 3:49 in three-on-three overtime play.

This Friday, the Calgary Jags are in Cochrane for their fourth matchup this season. The Chaos has won the first three, the last by a slim 2-1 margin.

"We've been pretty consistent I think, as far as our work ethic has been and our approach to games. I think we've been a little bit unlucky as far as trying to get some bounces or having a little bit of our touch around the net hasn't been what it should be but I expect our girls will come forward and play a really good game. The Jags seem to be getting better with every game and our contests have been closer and closer, so I expect a really good game on Friday."

Game time is 7:30 p.m. at Totem One.

Sunday, they head to Stavely for their first game against the Chinook Blazers. The Blazers are sort of new to the league and was formed upon the foundation laid by the Southern Sage last season.
