The Calgary Chaos will host its first ever home opener at Spray Lake Sawmill Family Sports Centre this Sunday, debuting in Cochrane as the latest team in the Alberta Junior Female Hockey League (AJFHL).

The Chaos will take on the Calgary Titans, who were league finalists last year, and lost the championships in five games to the Fort Saskatchewan Fury.

Calgary Chaos head coach Derek Loomer says the team is ready to show their new home town what they're made of.

"We want to make sure that we have a really nice event for everybody to be a part of, and start to get excited about our team," he says. "We look forward to a really good opening night, and a really good season."

Loomer says the community has already welcomed them with open arms.

"We really have enjoyed the support that we've got from Cochrane so far, the arena staff have been outstanding, the Cochrane Minor Hockey Association has been great, and the people we've seen at the rink have been very encouraging. We really like how we're being received and we certainly appreciate the support."

Admission is free to all Calgary Chaos home games.

Opening ceremony will begin at 2:30 p.m., Sunday Oct. 2 at the Totem 1 arena.
