A Cochrane Crossing Civic Plaza Art Task Force is being formed that will include up to six members of the public.

The task force will review the plaza art installation, then invite, receive and review submissions.

Town council gave their blessings to the formation of the task force after suggesting some fine-tuning of a proposal made at its committee of the whole meeting on June 20.

Cochrane received a $750,000 grant from the Canada Community Revitalization Fund that will double the budget it had originally designated for the entire project. Of the funds received, $525,000 has been allotted for the art installation.

One town councillor and one non-voting member of administration will also be part of the task force.

The town will soon be seeking applications from the public and will also reach out to stakeholders to ensure they are aware of the opportunity.

The plaza is being developed adjacent to the Cochrane Station which is currently being developed.
