Are your pet's claws out of control? The Cochrane and Area Humane Society can help you out with that this weekend at their summer Pet-i-Cure event.

The fundraiser runs Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Humane Society's Downtown Dog Training Centre.

Cats, dogs, and bunnies are all welcome to get a professional nail trim for a $10 dollar donation.

Janine Rossler, Operations Manager, Cochrane and Area Humane Society says you may even learn something new.

"Quite a few people are nervous about trimming their pet's nails because they're afraid of injuring their pet," she says. "We have volunteer professional groomers that do it, they can certainly give you tips of the trade, you can watch the whole thing and learn as they do it."

She shares all the funds raised will help care for the animals in the facility, the extra help is definitely needed this time of year.

"This time of year we've got lots of puppies and kittens, some with no moms to feed and care for them. So they need extra care, we'll also need extra medical equipment, and supplies for them as well. The funds raised at our Pet-i-Cure will help with this extra need, and give these little ones a chance at their forever home."

The last Pet-i-Cure raised a little over $800, the organization is hoping to meet or surpass that goal this weekend.

The next Pet-i-Cure event will be held Nov. 19.
