The increasing COVID-19 cases count did not take a break over the long weekend.

From Friday to Monday the total number of new cases reported was 4,903.

Hospitalizations increased by 87 for a total of 602.

ICU admissions increased by 19 for a total of 137.

Another 17 deaths were reported over the four-day period for a total of 2,407.

There are now 15,486 active cases in Alberta with a positivity rate of over 11 per cent.

While COVID-19 cases rose dramatically the vaccination rates did not.

It does not appear as though the $100 cash incentive offered by the government is causing a marked increase in vaccination shots.

To date, 78.6 per cent of Albertans have received one shot while 70.6 per cent of the provincial population are now fully immunized.

Cochrane is now reporting 66 active cases while Rocky View County is reporting 120 cases.
