It was unusually calm down in Lethbridge this weekend until the Cobras came to town.

The Cobras conquered the Cardston Cougars in the nail biting Tier III South Provincial Final game at the University of Lethbridge Turf Field on November 19.

Cobras Coach, Robie McNab, says the Cardston Cougars are very athletic and it was a very tight game.

“Just went down to the wire. It was a 49-42 victory for us. They scored in the last minute to make it within one touchdown, but just went back and forth, two teams going at it.”

It was the same score they beat them with in last year's South Provincial Final.

McNab says his team played really well and their quarterback #20 has proven he’s a real competitor.

“Our quarterback, Tae Gordon, was the man out there this weekend. He put that game on his own shoulders and he did an incredible job.”

The team is heading to Provincials for the third time in three years and are looking forward to making it a three for three win at The Alberta Bowl Provincial Final in Calgary.

The Cobras will battle it out for top spot against north zone champions , Holy Rosary Raiders at Shouldice Athletic Park on Saturday, November 26 at 2:30 P.M.
