The number of active cases in Cochrane have dropped to three and the number in Rocky View County have risen to eight. Provincially, the number of active cases rose sharply over the long weekend and are as follows:

  • Friday saw 154 cases after 11,400 tests performed
  • Saturday saw 171 cases after 11,300 tests performed
  • Sunday saw 137 cases after over 12,000 tests performed
  • Monday saw 157 cases after 12,561 tests performed (a new Alberta record)
  • Five more deaths were reported over the weekend
  • There are 45 people in hospital with 10 of those in ICU
  • There are 1,692 active cases in Alberta (the most since May 9)
  • 13,100 people have recovered from COVID 19 

Dr. Deena Hinshaw says she is concerned with the rising numbers in Alberta. Some of the numbers reported over the weekend were from school students and staff and she points out, "This is not unexpected, in each case AHS worked quickly with school officials to identify contacts to ensure anyone at risk is isolated.
