Dr. Deena Hinshaw provided an update for Thursday. While Cochrane's active cases remain at four and Rocky View County's cases have dropped to five the provincial numbers stand as follows:

  • following 10,089 tests being performed, 108 new cases reported in the past 24 hours

  • 1,158 active cases in the province

  • there are 49 people in hospital and seven in ICU

  • two additional deaths were reported bringing that total to 237

  • 11,923 Albertan's have recovered

Dr. Hinshaw spoke at length about the return to school next week. She hopes that everyone will refer to the Online Toolkit produced by Alberta Education it provides a wealth of information for parents and teachers and anyone involved with the return to school. Hinshaw also stressed that everyone should also refer to the Resource Guide for COVID 19 outbreaks in schools.

Dr. Hinshaw that the Guide does not detail what will cause a school closure because every situation will be treated specifically to the situation if and when the need should arise. She says, "We are not predetermining specific triggers for a school closure."
