Alberta's top doctor took to Twitter over the weekend to provide the most recent COVID-19 numbers across the province.

Over the past 24 hours 15, 509 COVID-19 tests were completed provincewide, identifying 1,633 new cases with a positivity rate of 10.3 per cent. 

Cochrane added three new cases of the virus over the weekend to bring the active case count in town to 216, and Rocky View County added 12 new cases and now accounts for 290 active cases.

Alberta Health Services also identified 411 variants of concern. 

Hospitalizations grew by nine over the weekend and there are now 668 Albertans currently in hospital with 155 in intensive care.

Sadly, Dr. Hinshaw reported two more deaths due to COVID-19.

Starting today, All Albertans 12 years of age and older are eligible to book an appointment to be vaccinated. 

Dr. Hinshaw continues to encourage Albertans to book their shots once they become eligible.

"Booking a vaccination appointment is one of the most important steps you can take right now.," says Hinshaw "If you’re nervous because you don’t like needles, there are steps you can take to reduce anxiety."
