Cochrane continues to buck the trend with a drop in active cases going from five to four. Rocky View County is currently sitting at 39 active cases. Dr. Deena Hinshaw provided and update for Thursday, October 22.

  • Over 20,000 people have recovered in Alberta.
  • 427 new cases were revealed after 14,300 tests were performed in the past 24 hours
  • There 112 people in hospital with 18 in ICU
  • There are 3519 active cases in the province

Hinshaw says the majority of cases are due to close contact and says that the increase in active cases may be partly due to the Thanksgiving celebrations from a few weeks back. She says she still supports the Halloween tradition of Trick or Treating and says that it can be done safely. She says, "I have always loved the fact that we open our doors to our neighbours to celebrate this holiday and to me it embodies the community oriented spirit that we need so much right now."  However, she adds this is not the year for large gatherings and Halloween parties. Keep it small.
