The Cochrane High Cobras Boy's Soccer team is looking to the post-season as they played their last regular season game on Tues. May 24.

The Cobras crushed the Springbank Phoenix 5-1 at Rangers Field, pushing the Cochrane team to first the in Rocky View Schools standings with a 4-0 record.

Cobras soccer coach Carolyn Mcleod says the game wasn't very challenging for the team.

"Springbank was always a strong team in the past, and they did have a lot of 12's graduate last year, so they really are starting from scratch again," she says. "A lot of the guys are younger, they really were a different side than we were accostummed to. It was an easier match for us."

The match saw goals from three players.

"Johnny Kerr scored the first goal, then Spencer Marchand, and then Dominik Zuczek scored three goals, he got a hat trick."

Mcleod adds it was a strong game on all ends, despite changing certain positions on the field due to sick and injured players.

"We had quite a few guys out, so we were playing with different guys, and different positions, but they're pretty versatile. Our D line played really well, they kept all but one out, and our forwards had lots of chances. Our forwards just kept weaving it up the field, and putting it across, they had some good opportunities."

Mcleod is happy to finish the regular season a little early, and not participating in RVS Soccer Quarter Finals will give the team even more time to prepare for playoffs.

"We've got a couple of practices that well be able to schedule now, it will be good to regroup, and talk more about our formation, and set plays, these are good things to work on when you have the time. We also need to heal and be healthy."

Quarter Finals are only for teams from 4-6 place in the standings.

The Cobras will play in Semi Finals at home on June 2.
