Cochrane Lanes bowlers are showing well in tournaments and qualifying to represent in provinicial and national championships.

Recently, three Cochrane Lanes bowlers were selected to join Calgary and area combo teams that competed at the Alberta 5 Pin Youth Challenge Provincials. Jordan Loewen joined the Calgary Boys Red Team, Jared LaMontagne joined the Calgary Mixed Red Team and Ryan Gibbons joined the Calgary Mixed Black Team. The teams bowled against representatives from all over Alberta.  Both teams had a fantastic tournament with Calgary Red team finishing with a silver medal.

Jared LaMontagne placed 1st overall in the Senior Boys Singles and was named to the Alberta All Star team that will be competing at Nationals in Gatineau, Quebec on March 25 – 29, 2020.  Jared secured a scholarship and some impressive hardware to go along with it. Jared is modest about his latest accomplishments and says, "In the past when I've been to tournaments, I would tend to finish somewhere in the middle of the pack but, in the last three tournaments I've had kind of a dominant streak where I've been getting first. So now, I have qualified for provincials and nationals." Jared also says, "I think I prefer the team events just because the scoring works is a little bit different which makes it a little more competitive and helps me to get to know more people in the bowling community and make friends that way."

The Cochrane Lanes Youth Bowling Doubles tournament which was held on February 9th saw Cochrane teams advancing to Provincials in Edmonton. Jared LaMontagne and Brayden Hockley placed first in the Senior Boys division and Jordan Loewen and Andre Retallack took second in the junior boys division. Both teams will be competing for a spot on the national team in Edmonton.
