The much loved, greatly missed, Cochrane Legion's Friday Night BBQs return today, Friday, April 1st.

It has been a very long two years for all organizations and because of the pandemic, the Legion was unable to hold its most popular fundraiser.

Betty Mazurik with the Cochrane Legion admits that it has been a tough two years, but the Legion wants to thank the community, regular patrons, and everyone else for supporting them. “We are so excited! This is such a big deal for not only the Legion but the community and to get everybody back. We’ve had so many people ask when is this going to happen? So, April 1st, not an April Fool’s joke whatsoever, the BBQs are back.”

For those that are not familiar with the evening, you can head to the Cochrane Legion, at 114 Fifth Ave., from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. every Friday.

There you will be able to feed yourself or the whole family for a very reasonable price with proceeds going to support the Cochrane Legion.

For $15 you get a 6 oz steak with all the fixings which include a baked potato, coleslaw, and baked beans.

If you prefer a hamburger with the fixings, it is $10.

New this year, and a favourite for the kids, $8 will buy a hotdog with the fixings.

Along with the great food, there are 50/50 draws too which also help to raise money for the Legion.

Mazuirk says children are more than welcome. If you are planning to attend with a group of eight or more, they ask that you call ahead so that they can reserve a table for you to ensure that your party can sit all together.

The number to call is 403-932-2011.

One additional note, the BBQs will happen every Friday except for Good Friday, April 14.
