The Cochrane Lions Club has donated $2,500 to Cochrane Search and Rescue for the assistance they provided during the club's Spring Barn Dance.

Lions president Chris Connon says Search and Rescue stepped up to assist when more volunteers were needed at the wildly successful dance.

He praised Search and Rescue for the service they provide the community.

"You can't put a price on what they do. It's absolutely a group that we must have in town. We've got to keep helping them any which way we can."

Search and Rescue president Evan Knox says they've worked with the Lions Club before.

"Once again it's amazing to be able to team up with the Lions Club and work at such a fun event. It was one of the first non-COVID events, and I think everybody had a good time. It was great."

Funding like this is crucial for the voluntary emergency support provided by Search and Rescue when called upon.

"We're a 100 per cent donation-based nonprofit organization, and any amount helps, and this is an amazing contribution to our organization."
