A group of five Cochrane women have teamed up to spread some cheer around town with the Cochrane Positivity Project.

The ladies are handing out custom gift bags each week to help with groceries and to help put a smile on someone's face.

Cindy Chase says these are hard times and they wanted to do something to help brighten the day for people here in town.

"We were hearing things about friends not doing so well being quarantined or seniors being alone and not being able to get out or nobody being able to come visit them. So we decided together that we needed to bring positivity, joy, happiness and smiles back to the people of our community."

Chase says each bag is put together specifically for the person who has been nominated.

"There's usually a $40 gift card to the grocery store of their choice. We do give them the option if they're not able to leave their homes to get groceries, we ask for a list and we will go and get groceries and drop them off for them. Then there's other little things in there like water bottles and everybody gets a t-shirt or a tank top with a funny saying on it so it'll remind people of what we went through this year."

She says they hand out two per week and they plan to keep going.

"We've gotten a lot of positive feedback through email saying thank you so much, you have no idea how much that meant to that person, the smile that it brought to them and the joy for that day. All positive feedback, it's been great."

The ladies who are also involved in the project are Kendra Bryant, Laura Tucker, Amanda Tulk & Lyndsie Barrie
