In late September, it was announced that the 2020 edition of the Cochrane Pumpkin Lantern Festival was called off. With Halloween quickly approaching, the organizers of the festival have confirmed that the event is not cancelled and will happen this year. The now virtual pumpkin carving contest replaces walking the Cochrane Ranche with being able to browse the entries from home.

A post on the official Cochrane Pumpkin Lantern Festival Facebook page has announced that the event is on for 2020.

"Exciting News! The Cochrane Pumpkin Lantern Festival is back this year! With COVID considerations, Anything Grows in association with CPLF is hosting a virtual pumpkin carving contest. Be a part of the Cochrane Halloween tradition with a new twist this year. After you're done you can choose to donate your awesome pumpkins to the Bethany Care Centre pumpkin walk and show them off!"

You can share your pumpkin artwork on Facebook with a chance to win gift cards in several categories. The categories are

  • Kids under 12

  • Most Creative Pumpkin

  • Most Technical Pumpkin

  • Best Overall Pumpkin

Participants are also being encouraged to donate their carved jack-o-lanterns to The Bethany Care Centre pumpkin walk.

The contest is now open and entries will be accepted until October 28, 2020. All the details for the online contest can be found here
