Cochrane RCMP have arrested and charged a woman after a 10-month-long investigation.
Back in October of 2022, RCMP were made aware of a person who was attempting to extort money from a victim by threatening to release a fake video to the public.
Then on May 17, Mounties along with members from the Calgary Police Service searched a property in Calgary.
Officers seized a prohibited handgun stored with prohibited loaded magazines, ammunition, computers, tablets, and cell phones.
After a lengthy investigation, 42-year-old Andrea Petzold was arrested and charged with Extortion, Uttering threats, Possession of a prohibited firearm, Unauthorized possession of a firearm, and two counts of Unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon.
She has been released from custody and is set to appear in Calgary court on Aug. 25.
