The Cochrane RCMP responded to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 1 and Highway 22 and is currently on the scene.

Early indications reveal that an Eastbound car sideswiped a tractor-trailer unit which in turn caused the car to roll into the ditch.

Failing to stop, the tractor-trailer unit continued on.

Two occupants of the car have been taken to hospital with serious injuries, and two other individuals are being treated for non-serious injuries. Alcohol and drugs are believed to be a factor in the collision.

The Cochrane RCMP believe that the driver of the tractor-trailer unit may not have even been aware of the collision.

RCMP are asking that any drivers that were in the area at around 9:40 am examine their vehicles for damage consistent with being sideswiped. They are also asking that anyone who witnessed the collision to report to the Cochrane Detachment.
