Do you know of a youth who would jump at a chance to live in another country and see the world from an entirely new perspective through the Rotary Youth Exchange? Or perhaps, you would like to host a visiting student?

Tomas Jandik, a 17 year-old student from Czechia is one such student.Tomas arrived in Cochrane in August and began attending grade 12 at Cochrane High. Tomas says the process allowed him to pick a country from a list and Canada was his number one choice. Hence, he ended up in our fair town.

Jandik is from a small European country and says, "There are some cultural differences, especially in the behaviour of people, in humour, and in how Canadians are polite."

Aside from keeping busy attending school and getting to know his host families, Tomas has enjoyed taking part in activities that our area can provide like enjoying our mountains while skiing and backpacking.

Tomas will be here in Cochrane until the end of the school year in June and then will return home with many new experiences and stories to tell.
