The U14 Cochrane Wolfpack brought home the gold from the Sam Steele tournament in Cranbrook June 18,19.

The girls managed to defend their title of gold medal winners for the second straight year.

John Rovere, coach of the Wolfpack, credits great goaltending by Riyan Dillon- St. Pierre for this year's win.

"We had amazing goal keeping all weekend, you can't win a tournament without it. She gave up two goals in four games total, you don't lose a lot of games when you're not getting scored on."

Rovere says the girls are doing great considering they are playing with mostly a U13 roster.

"We have to play in U14 because we have two kids on our team that are that age so you have to play up to that group."

The girls are sitting at 1-1-1 right now, and Rovere anticipates the team will have a very successful season.

"I expect our season's really going to pick up. I think this tournament is going to help, the girls seem really confident now and have their game together."

Rovere adds that besides the team putting fourth great effort, the parents on the sidelines did well, as well.

"I thought the kids were real positive all weeked, and the parent's were great on the sidelines there was a lot of positivity, encouragement and cheering."
