It was an exciting weekend for Cochrane’s own Reanne Kyla. The singer/songwriter won huge in the 2021 YYC Music Awards when her song ‘Home’ was awarded Folk Recording of the Year.

“Honestly, it blows my mind! I wasn't sure if it was going to happen and I was watching the live video and I was nervous. When they said my name, it was like a dream.” says Kyla.

“It feels really good, feels surreal. It just encouraged me to keep writing and to keep putting music out there.”

The award comes on the one-year anniversary of her song’s release and Kyla says she not slowing down.

“I'm just gonna keep writing, I'm gonna keep honing my craft, and if that means recording music then I will. I want to make sure that what I put out is important and valuable to my listeners, so I will keep pursuing and doing my best at this little side gig.”

“I'm really thankful for all of my listeners and really grateful for just the positive feedback that I have gotten. I don't think that I would keep pursuing music like I am without the awesome support of friends, family, and other listeners. I'm so very, very grateful.”
