Cochranites have been treated to our very own weekend car parades for the past two summers.

We've come to look forward to seeing members of Cruise Cochrane hitting the streets in their American hot rods, classics, and muscle cars.

Organizer of Cruise Cochrane, Jim Messner is now gearing up for a different kind of cruise - this one is for the sports car lovers, specifically Corvette owners.

Messner, along with fellow Cochranite and member of Cruise Cochrane Greg Christensen will be joining the Rocky Mountain Corvette Cruise for their eighth annual ride.

"It takes us all over South Central B.C. up through the Okanagan back through Revelstoke and it's five days long," explains Messner.

Thirty-six corvettes in total will be cruising through the Rockies starting this Monday, July 19.

This is Messner's second cruise with the Corvette Club, and this year he's taken on a new role as a Cruise Captain.

"Basically it all started as a Facebook group," says Messner. "They developed this Rocky Mountain Cruise out of that and we were lucky enough to get in again this year. We're sure looking forward to it because it was a ton of fun last year."

It's not only an epic cruise for the drivers themselves, but Messner says that people of all ages line the streets to catch a glimpse of the string of Corvettes.

"Last year we had everything from the early 60s right up to 2019 Corvette with all the latest technology," says Messner. "There's a little bit of everything and certainly when we roll into these towns they grab the attention of everybody from the young children right up to seniors."

Messner says that the event brings together owners celebrating the Corvette lifestyle, enjoying the open road. and connecting with others.

He says that he does see other Corvettes cruising through Cochrane and he's hoping to get some more Cochranites onboard for next year's Rocky Mountain Corvette Cruise.
