The streets have been swept, lawns have turned green, and gardens starting to take.

To help further beautify the community, the Cochrane Immigrant Services Committee is holding a community cleanup over two days, June 13 and 14.

All interested residents are invited the help rid the town of litter.

Both days they will be meeting at 11:30 a.m. by the new strip mall being built in the Heartland neighbourhood to coordinate the cleanup. They'll be cleaning up for a few hours both days.

People should bring gloves, masks, water bottles, and dress appropriately for the weather. While garbage bags will be available, people are welcome to bring their own.

Singh Palwinder (Paul) says they'll be keeping people safe by following COVID-19 protocol.

"If anyone wants to join us we'll be keeping physical distancing to make sure everyone is safe," he says. "It's easy to space out."

"If we can clean it up the best we can, it will make a difference."

If they receive a strong response, they may add a second weekend.
