Women Empowering Women are getting ready for their second meeting on July 27.

Organizers Mary Lou Eckmeier and Marni Fedeyko are hoping to bring women together for an evening of inspiration, empowerment, and connection.  Two local speakers will be featured at every meeting, and the co organizers say no two meetings will be the same; offering something new for all ladies.

Eckmeier says one of the biggest benefits is about connection; with so many women being new to Cochrane, many ladies don't have the same support that existed generations ago.

"With so many women living so far away from where their first home was or where their family is, that a lot of us don't have those mothers, aunts, neighbour women we grew up with to be those mentors. The point is to find those mentors who give you hope for the future, when you're starting out, or things aren't quite going the way you want; to share their strengths to get there.

The two co organizers are hoping to grow their event and bring out ladies of all generations. Eckmeier states she is hoping all women open up and are able to relate to others journeys.

"There's always a path to get a better a life, and I hope that is what we're able to do."

Eckmeier was pleased with how the inaugural event went, with roughly thirty women coming together to share and connect.

"It was so amazing to hear those women's stories and the hurdles they overcame;  the days when they had tough days, and just convinced themselves to get up, and get out of bed, and keep going the next day, and how things turn around.

The second meeting will feature speakers Carol Sheldon and Gaynor Levisky who will talk about a life balance/connection with food, minds, and our body and how we have the power with in ourselves to overcome a variety of issues.

The next meeting will be held at the Cochrane Public Library beginning at 6 pm; tickets are $10 which includes appetizers and can be purchased here.
