Local candidates are campaigning hard with their signs out in full force. The countdown is on for the upcoming municipal election on October 18, but voters can take to the polls as early as this Saturday, October 9, 2021.

If you're unable to make it to your voting station on Election Day, you're encouraged to have your say by voting in advance.

Here in Cochrane, residents have four opportunities to cast their ballots before Election Day:

Advance Poll 1: October 9, 2021
Spray Lakes Sawmills Sports Centre (Gymnasium) 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Advance Poll 2: October 12, 2021   
Cochrane RancheHouse – 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Advance Poll 3: October 14, 2021
Cochrane RancheHouse – 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Advance Poll 4: October 16, 2021  
Spray  Lakes Sawmills Sports Centre (Gymnasium) 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Prior to Election Day, electors can vote at any of the advance poll locations; after advance polls close, eligible voters must vote at the polling station assigned to their home address.

In order to vote, you must prove your identity and address with either:

  • One piece of Government-issued ID displaying your name and current address
  • Two pieces of ID; BOTH containing your full name and one of which shows your current address.

You are eligible to vote if you're at least 18 years old, a Canadian citizen and reside in the Town of Cochrane.

On the ballot, Cochrane voters will cast their votes for six Town of Cochrane Councillors, School Trustee for either the Calgary Catholic School Division or the Rocky View School Division, three Senate appointments as well as two referendum questions.
