Like Cochrane, inflationary conditions have had a major impact on the operations of Rocky View County (RVC) for 2023.

RVC council has approved a 2023 operating and capital budget that could result in a six per cent increase in taxes collected. Council will make a final decision on the actual tax increase in the spring when the budget will be finalized.

Public feedback received included an online budget simulator that allowed residents to adjust and modify the proposed 2023 budget.  In total, 179 residents created their budget version to share with the county. County officials called the activity a successful form of engagement.

Besides allowing core programs and services to continue and expand where necessary, it also calls for a capital program that includes road surfaces and utilities.

Capital budget highlights include replacing aging bridges and widening of roads across the county, drainage infrastructure upgrades to reduce potential flooding within the Hamlet of Langdon, and replacing aging fleet and equipment of fire, enforcement, and operations.

The tax rates will be set in the spring, followed by the issue of assessment notices.
