In her COVID 19 update on Thursday, Dr Deena Hinshaw said that the good news is that the case numbers continue to be on a downward trend.

  • 5710 have recovered
  • 926 active cases
  • 59 in hospital
  • 6 in ICU
  • 4017 tests processed in the past 24 hours
  • 33 new cases

Cochrane/Springbank cases remain at 20 with three active and 17 recovered.

However, the deadly virus remains with us and she sadly reported four new deaths. All four were seniors residing in care facilities in Calgary. Dr Hinshaw says that the average age of deaths is 82 and that she and AHS will continue to prioritize senior facilities in the province.

Dr Hinshaw says, "I have said it before and I will say it again that no Albertan is expendable and every death from this virus is a loss of someone who was loved and cherished by friends and family. My heart and condolences go out to all Albertan's grieving the loss of a loved one at this time.
